Juneteenth reflection
Am I correct that now that Juneteenth is a national holiday, the same state that was responsible for the offense of denying enslaved humans the knowledge of their legal emancipation for two and a half years, and the reason we celebrate this day recognizing when our ancestors were finally freed from the horrific deception, is the same state that bans more books than any other state in the nation and punishes those institutions or persons who refer to race? Is that a coincidence?
Shame on those who wish to live in blissful denial while the consequences of ignorance continue to deny the full promise of the American dream to those who are and have been a major contributor to the fabric of this country. Pulling the loose threads or ignoring them will ruin the American garment. We, the citizens of this country...a most passionate and creative seamstress must be fully recognized for this country to be fully clothed in life, Liberty and the pursuit of happiness it professes!
Love and realness,
